Delightful Recipe :
Beet greens with masoor dal

Try this tasty and healthy recipe, it makes a great side dish for roti or chapati or rice.


2 cups beetroot stems and leaves

½ cup cooked beetroot pieces (optional)

½ cup masoor dal

1 tsp. cumin seed

½ cup onion

1tsp. chopped ginger

1 tsp. chopped garlic

1 tsp. red chilli powder

1 tsp. garam masala

Oil and salt


Heat oil and add cumin seeds, ginger, garlic and onions. Fry for a few minutes. Then add masoor dal. Allow it to cook for some time, stir frequently. Add chili powder, garam masala and salt, and fry for another minute. Add the beetroot, beet greens, and a little bit of water. Cover and cook till done, stirring occasionally.
