Cinnamon

Commonly known in India as “Dalchini”.

HEALTH BENEFITS

Cinnamon is one of the oldest known spices. It is loaded with numerous health benefits, such as anti clotting and antimicrobial action. It helps lower cholesterol and also has a regulatory effect on blood sugar, and is thus beneficial to individuals with type 2 diabetes. It is high in calcium and fibre and is known to protect against heart disease and also improve colon health. Cinnamon also boosts brain function.

Cinnamon contains loads of antioxidants. It is a great source of minerals like potassium, calcium, iron, zinc, manganese and magnesium. It also contains high amounts of Vitamin A, Niacin, Pantothenic acid and Pyridoxine.

Cinnamon also acts as a nasal decongestant and expectorant. It is also used to treat bad breath, indigestion, flatulence and diarrhoea. Owing to its antibacterial and antimicrobial properties it is also used to treat infections.
