HEALTH BENEFITS

Saffron contains many plant derived chemical compounds that are known to have anti-oxidant, health promoting and disease preventing properties.

Saffron contains a compound called Alpha crocin, besides other carotenoids, which are antioxidants that help protect the body from cancer, arthritis and infections. Safranal, a constituent of saffron, is also a good antioxidant.

Saffron tea has been used to treat depression.

Saffron also helps improve vision and is said to prevent age related blindness in the elderly.

Saffron has been used to increase blood circulation and relieve stomach aches and kidney stones since ancient times.

It is also effective in lowering blood cholesterol and triglycerides, and is hence beneficial to heart patients. This spice is also rich in vitamins and minerals which are essential for providing optimal health.
